2015 was a whirlwind year for South Florida's shamelessly sleazy art-rapper Bleubird, AKA Jacques Bruna, who arguably hustled harder for Fort Lauderdale than any other local MC. Over the past year, Bruna put out a video for his single "Keith Haringbone" to hype the release of his first album since 2012, Lauderdale, which dropped in September to overwhelmingly favorable reviews.

Directed by BJ Golnick, the "Keith Haringbone" clip channels some serious Boogie Nights vibes, camera tracking in slo-mo through a steamy, fruit cocktail-fueled pool party as Bruna raps, wades, and irreverently flips the bird among bikini- and handlebar-mustache-adorned revelers.
After Lauderdale topped off the CMJ Hip-Hop chart at number five and made its Top 50 for 2015 list (not to mention our roundup of the year's best local releases), Bruna ended 2015 on a high note with a handful of out-of-town shows alongside Minneapolis indie hip-hop collective Doomtree and a New Year's performance with Astronautalis.

Now that it's 2016, Bleubird and company are back with a new clip for "Fake Cats/Lauderdale Squad" to keep fans hyped for what's to come. The wavy double-feature video appropriately clocks in at 4:20 and features a "special appearance/blessing from the Papaya God of the Miami BA$$ Bermuda Triangle," Otto Von Schirach.

Soaked in neon lights and flashing with lo-fi, early-internet CGI, the video was shot and edited by the indelible Digital Cypher in and around Fort Lauderdale and also features verses from Mister Belvedere (who produced all of Lauderdale) and Pompano $lim (the man behind all the art direction).

In February, Bruna will release Lauderdale on wax as a limited edition of 300. He's also gearing up for a tour run with fellow alt-rapper ECID, the self-professed "skinny, blue-eyed hipster-looking dude" from Minneapolis whose mantra is "All I need is sex, weed, and yoga," and plans to release a new EP with Belvy. Keep an eye out for the tell-tale two-piece floral jumpers, because 2016 is already shaping up to be another year of hustle for Fort Lauderdale's Bleubird. Gloss.
