Arts & Crafts Productions' heartfelt indie songcrafters Stars will be making their way to Florida for a handful of dates -- most notably at the Culture Room on October 16. If you are already familiar with the band, then you will know that this is something not to be missed. If you are not, get with it.
Even if you are already a fan, there are a handful of things about them that you may not know.
For starters, all members are, or at one point were, also members of Broken Social Scene, a satellite band, if you will. The two were also on the same label, Arts & Crafts.
Singer Torquil Campbell is also an actor, having made appearances in Sex and the City and Law & Order.
Stars cite the Smiths as a major influence. They've made no secret of their affection for them, covering "This Charming Man" on their 2001 release, Nightsongs, as well as "Asleep" for American Laundromat Records charity record Sing me to Sleep - Indie Lullabies.
Watch:
As a promotion for their latest record, The Five Ghosts, each band member made appearances on CBC Radio 2. The format, was atypical, as each of them told a ghost story, complete with flashlights held to their faces.
