Rock legends Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks announced Thursday on the Ellen Degeneres show that they are going on the road together. The first stop on this tour of awesomeness? Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise on March 20. A Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks tandem at first seems pretty out of the blue, but several concert double-ups (Guns 'N Roses and Metallica, Billy Joel and Elton John, and Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera) have succeeded. Rod and Stevie actually have more in common than any of those previous musical pairings.

It's hard to believe, but Rod Stewart has been making music for almost 50 years. He's tackled almost every type of music, including R&B, British rock, classic rock, disco, pop and standards. His raspy voice, rooster-like hairstyle and skinny body cuts an iconic figure. From his first big hit "Maggie May" (Originally a B-side to "Reason to Believe"), Rod Stewart sounded and looked like no other rock star. This man is so secure in his own persona and sexuality that he's managed to bang and/or marry several models, even after being photographed wearing spandex leopard print tights. Reinventing himself time and again, he's been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and won a Grammy in 2005 for his "Stardust" Album of standards.

Stevie Nicks is the ultimate rock goddess/goth flower child/fairy of the forest. As part of the partner-swapping band Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks provided the lyrics and vocals on their only American number one hit - "Dreams." After the breakup of Fleetwood Mac, Stevie took her platform boots, granny skirts and shawls into the studio and recorded one hit after another, including "stop Dragging my Heart Around" and "Edge of Seventeen". Since then she's been in rehab, reunited and broken up with Fleetwood Mac and has mastered the tambourine. Her voice and her look are completely unique and totally Stevie Nicks. Stevie, as part of Fleetwood Mac, has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and won a Grammy in 1978 for "Rumors".

Rod Stewart himself said that rehearsals haven't begun so there's only speculation on the format of the show, but there are several different ways it could go. They could do their show the way Billy Joel and Elton John did their successful concerts, a separate set each then a duet set, but that seems like such a waste of a good opportunity. Our suggestion? A celebrity smackdown cage match. Tickets for the Stewart/Nicks concert/cage match go on sale January 21st at 10 a.m. via ticketmaster.com.
