Nightlife never takes a holiday -- nightlife, as a concept, exists permanently as an alternate-universe holiday. So in case you were wondering, yes, the usual (((SHAKE))) hip-hop party and bullshit will still be going down at the Vagabond this Thursday. And if you indeed find yourself there, that means you've escaped the clutches of your extended family, into the warm bosom of a party that offers diet Jupina as a mixer for your rum. That's something to be thankful for, no?

But, because the Vagabond in general loves charity, and because the Shake guys are big softies behind the tattoos, muscles, and gold grills, Thursday's party also makes a deposit into the great karmic bank. It's a food drive for Feeding South Florida (formerly the Daily Bread Food Bank) -- bring two cans of food and you get in free.

It's also a pre-party for the Borscht Film Festival, with a promised sneak peek of some of the films, as well as actual borscht soup. Doubt many will be brave enough to try it, but if so, let us know how it goes down with the Jupina pairing. So, as the (((SHAKE)))) fellows like to say, please do your job.

(((SHAKE))), Thursday, November 26. The Vagabond, 30 NE 14th St., Miami. Doors open at 10 p.m., admission is free with two cans of food. Ages 21+ with ID. 305-379-0508; thevagabondmiami.com
