This week sees the release of the CompOWLation Vol. 1, a collection of songs recorded by student artists in Florida Atlantic University's Commercial Music program. To kick off the release, Whole Foods Market (across the street from the FAU campus) in Boca Raton is hosting a release party on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information on the event's Facebook page, and at the Hoot Wisdom blog.
CompOWLation featured artists for Friday's show include ska band Sir Veza, roots-reggae act Fireside Prophets, and rapper Marcus Banks.
Available as a digital download at the Hoot Wisdom Recordings' Bandcamp site, proceeds from the ten-track compilation will go to benefit a scholarship fund for students in the program, as well as Food for the Poor's efforts in Haiti. For luddites, there is also a CD version of the compilation available here.
