Among bands that your cool dad might know about even before you is Edward Sharpe & the Magnificent Magnetic Zeros (oh, whatever), so maybe bring him to Culture Room on October 19. Even if NPR suggests that the ten-piece troupe from Los Angeles "defies documentation, let alone description," here's a shot: retro-style rock with infectious hooks and orchestral instrumentation filling out the mix. The chemistry of singer Edward Sharpe (formerly Alex Ebert of Ima Robot) and lady vocalist Jade Castrinos is based upon a loose banter between them that just so happens to be loaded with harmonies, laughter, and the precocious cuteness of a Wes Anderson comedy.

Even if the song title "Janglin'" isn't immediately familiar, a sliver of the sunny vibrations get prominent placement in this Ford Fiesta ad. Fans of the Elephant 6 collective should take special note, and everyone else should take a dare not to sing along.
