Since revamping in mid-2007, Shine at the Shelborne has continued its program of high-quality, one-off or occasional recurring events (Bliss, etc.). The club's Winter Music Conference programming this year was, as usual, a highlight of conference too. But now teh club's getting its first proper weekly event in a long time.

Enter Gossip, a new Saturday night party which is billed as three parties in one. The lobby reception bar features drink specials for ladies and chilled-out house sounds. The lounge -- that's halfway through on the way to the actual club -- is more house, from local DJs like Louis Dee and Nikolas.

Finally, Shine itself is open format fun, featuring a roster of special

guest DJs. The first, this Saturday, is Biz Markie -- his party-rocking

sets are always a good time, and the club's upscale but no-bullshit

vibe is always a welcome respite from the rest of the beach. Proof?

Some 1500 people attended the opening night of the party last week.

There are no advance tickets for sale online, but for bottle service/table reservations e-mail [email protected].
