At times I forget that Michigan native Iggy Pop now calls the Magic City home. In fact, last I heard he lived in the Village of El Portal, a small municipality located between Miami and Miami Shores -- which also happens to be the area I grew up in.

Well, Pop's love of Miami earned him a spot on CNN's My City_My Life series, which has musicians give viewers a tour of their hometowns. Pop takes the cameras around Miami, but focuses primarily on Little Haiti, saying its a great place to basically unwind. Really? Little Haiti? Anyway, he also goes on to use such cliches as "Miami's a sunny place for shady people" and "a hell of a good town to eat a banana!" (WTF?) In his written interview, he comes to the city's defense for those who say it's LA's or New York's "poor cousin," saying "Miami's not anybody's poor cousin. It's an aspiration to live in this town, not something you have to do to promote yourself like some of the larger cities." A-fuckin'-men!

Surprisingly, Pop gives props to the city's music scene. Now, before I get a flood of hate mail (which is my favorite kind of mail), I'm not saying Miami's music scene isn't good, but I'm surprised he's mentioning it, because it's small and often overlooked.

Check out Iggy's two-part video after the jump.
