On Saturday, June 4, Darius Rucker brings his Good for a Good Time Tour to the Perfect Vodka Amphitheater. The former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman and lifelong Dolphins fan released his fourth country album, Southern Style, in March of last year.
Continuing his domination of the charts that began in the '90s with songs about crying and holding hands, the South Carolina native kept the streak alive scoring his fourth consecutive Billboard number one with Southern Style. It’s a remarkable achievement for Rucker, considering not just the cultural barriers he’s shattered, but also having escaped his own shadow as “Hootie.”
Although the “Wagon Wheel” crooner is sure to put on a blast of a show (tickets start at $37), if you’re in need of an appetizer, CityPlace has an additional treat. CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee Kelsea Ballerini is set to serenade the popular downtown destination Thursday, June 2, for the happy price of nothing.
Sponsored by WIRK-FM 103.1, this will be Ballerini’s third visit to South Florida in 2016. In April she was part of a star-studded Tortuga Fest lineup, and earlier in the year, also at CityPlace, she joined Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley for an impromptu duet of the band’s hit single, “Need You Now.” It’s a good week to be a country fan; get greedy and enjoy both shows.
