Breaking: Langerado 2011 has been canceled.

The 2011 Langerado Music Festival has just inserted a little more local flavor to the mix. In addition to headliners Death Cab for Cutie, Ween, Trey Anastasio, Thievery Corporation, and Ben Harper, the bill will feature Fort Lauderdale jam vets the Heavy Pets, who have an extensive touring background and some Bonnaroo experience under their belts. This show comes not long before the Pets release a new album, Swim Out Past the Sun, on October 22.

Another former local, Los Angeles folk/pop singer Rachel Goodrich, has also been added to the bill, along with five other acts spanning different genres from around the country.

This is not the end of the road for bands that still want to rock Langerado, however. Below, check out another initiative the fest is putting on to recruit more artists and the rest of the newly added musicians performing at Markham Park on October 8 and 9.

Along with the Heavy Pets and Goodrich, Langerado will host Philadelphia electro-pop band Nicos Gun, Los Angeles pop-punk act A Million Pieces, Atlanta roots rocker Nic Cowan, Nashville indie-folk group Bear Cub, and San Francisco hip-hop/electro artist K. Flay.

As for bands who still want to get involved, head to the Last Band Standing contest site by August 22 and enter for a chance to get added to the lineup and some money! All of the details are here.

Even if you are not an artist, don't forget to enter OUR CONTEST for a chance to win a pair of free passes for the weekend. Just film yourself singing a song by a Langerado artist and post it to the County Grind Facebook page by Friday at noon for a chance to win. I show you how easy it is with this video of myself singing Death Cab for Cutie's "Steadier Footing."
