The aftermath of the canceled Langerado Music Festival is a sad time indeed for music fans, journalists, promoters, and upstart energy-drink producers who were hoping to expand market share. But let's not forget about the several dozen musicians who now are scrambling to fill a performance gap for the second weekend in October.
And maybe that's what some of the cash-strapped local music fans wanted anyhow instead of biting off $150 for the handful of acts that appealed to them.
We announced yesterday that the Arctic Monkeys are on their way to Revolution instead of Markham Park, and it's suspected that several other bands will follow suit with shows at the area clubs in Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties. With the exception of a couple of bands that don't seem to want people to know when and where they perform, we have compiled a list of Langerado artists organized by the likelihood of a local concert.
Affirmative
Arctic Monkeys
Still Coming? Yes! Saturday, October 8 at Revolution.
Das Racist
Still coming? Very much so! Sunday, October 9 at Grand Central.
Ghostland Observatory
Still coming? Indeed. Sunday, October 9 at Culture Room.
Wolfgang Gartner
Still coming? Yeah, he was already booked to play November 26 at Revolution.
Bobby Lee Rogers
Still coming? Totally. He's local and has several shows in the area coming up.
The Heavy Pets
Still coming? Definitely. They're also local and have dates in West Palm Beach and the Keys planned for October.
Rachel Goodrich
Still coming? Nothing local seems to be on the horizon for this ex-Miami resident, but she'll be back one of these days.
Maybe
Death Cab for Cutie
Still coming? Ben Gibbard tweeted: "Sorry to all who were looking forward to seeing us at
Langerado. Very upset that we've had to say this twice in the last 5
years." But did not say that another South Florida tour date was on the way. They'll be in Jacksonville on October 7, so never say never.
The Glitch Mob
Still Coming? Likely, because they're spending October 7 in Jacksonville, then headed to France on October 14.
Friendly Fires
Still coming? Reports to that effect have been circulating. This could be the logical follow-up date to October 8 in Orlando.
Childish Gambino
Still coming? There's a shot! He's on the Rock the Bells Tour until October 8 in Orlando.
Smith Westerns and Yuck
Still coming? This would be a no-brainer since they're touring together and perform October 7 in Orlando. All dates.
Conspirator
Still coming? Possible. Their tour dates put them in St. Petersburg on October 7.
Mates of State
Still coming? Reportedly! Follows an October 7 stop in Orlando. All tour dates.
RAC DJs
Still coming? Possible. Tour dates put them in Tallahassee on October 7.
The Kingston Springs
Still coming? "The Kingston Springs would love to find a show since
we'll be in Florida from Nashville," says their rep. Local venues should
holler at these folks if interested.
Maybe Not
Ben Harper
Still Coming? Possible but less probable, since Langerado was the last date scheduled on his tour, and they're in Atlanta on October 7.
Trey Anastasio Band
Still coming? Between a South Carolina stop on October 7 and the following show in New Jersey, this is unlikely.
G. Love & Special Sauce
Still coming? Not impossible, but they could just chill in South Carolina until their October 12 date in Columbia instead of hiking down here.
Probably Not
Ween
Still coming? Pretty unlikely, judging by the schedule.
Thievery Corporation
Still coming? Very unlikely, since there aren't any dates remotely close to this one.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Still coming? Highly unlikely. After a Philadelphia gig September 21, they aren't back on the road until November.
Etienne De Crecy
Still coming? Based in France, but never say never.
.
Super Mash Bros.
Still coming? Unlikely. Nothing anywhere close is booked according to these tour dates.
Savoy
Still coming? Nothing scheduled in the area leading up to the event.
The Whigs
Still coming? No tour dates that make it seem likely.
No No No!
Portugal. The Man
Still coming? "Portugal. The Man will not make it to Florida because of the cancellation," says the band's rep.
