The Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend this year is jam-packed with music.
For fans of hip-hop, classic pop, dance music, or Vince Neil, South
Florida is decidedly covered.
As detailed in this week's Miami New Times, Diddy hosts one of the year's biggest assembled hip-hop and reggae
showcases, Best of the Best 2010 at Bicentennial Park, in his adopted
second home, Miami. Later this year, the rapper-mogul is expected to
release his sixth studio album, Last Train to Paris, which features
"Hello Good Morning," penned by local Rico Love and including a guest
rap by T.I. Incidentally, the newly free man T.I. and Grand Hustle
Family will be in town to perform at Klutch Nightclub Sunday evening --
so will he swing by beforehand?
Also set for Best of the Best is Gucci Mane, who was released from
prison May 12, has a pile of memorable hits like "Lemonade" and a
recent collaboration with Outkast's Big Boi, "Shine Blockas," to draw
from. Locals representing include DJ Khaled, and Rick Ross teamed with
Magazeen. On the reggae/dancehall tip, Barrington Levy brings a voice
so clear and versatile that he fronted dub punks Sublime for a bit,
and fellow Jamaican Capleton has a faster, more fiery dancehall
delivery. Also of note, Baby Cham has amassed crossover collaborations
with Rick Ross, T-Pain, and Santigold. There will be surprises all day long, and
what's better than the Best?

Since their heyday as '80s pop alchemists, Hall & Oates have beaten
back the years and stayed an integral part of popular culture. Synth
act the Bird and the Bee recently released a tribute album honoring
the duo; actors depicted Hall & Oates with comic effect in the Yacht
Rock web series; another web series, J-Stache, details the wild life
of John Oates' mustache; and, naturally, a catalog of hits like
"Private Eyes," "Rich Girl," and "Maneater" still sounds awesome.

House icon Roger Sanchez will cater to the groove-oriented at
Monarchy in West Palm Beach on Sunday. His new single, "2Gether,"
features rapper K'naan as well as a sample from "Love Shack" by the
B-52's, and hits pretty much every dance pleasure center in the process.
