As our economy takes a turn for the worse, there are still people out there who know what people want to do to forget that their life savings are going to shit -- drink and dance. So it isn't a surprise that this weekend, not one, but two new Miami-area venues are opening up.

The King Is Dead (10 NE 40th Street, Miami) -- er, yea that's the name -- opens up this weekend with a bang as Aquabooty pops its cherry. The party brings with it Berlin DJ/producer Dixon, whose been spinning house music since the mid-'90s. In what we hope is a continuing trend, King is one of the first Design District nightclub venues to open since The District closed back in 2006.

Over in South Beach, Laundry Bar shut its doors temporarily to remodel and come back with a new name. What is it called now? (305) Music Lounge (721 Lincoln Lane, Miami Beach). Er, we know, craptacular on so many levels but thankfully its management knows a thing or two about music. Its grand opening is this weekend with DJ Sneak. The Toronto house DJ is sure to bring out the househeads en masse.
