Who is Paul van Dyk, really? Obviously he's one of the most famous figures in electronic dance music worldwide -- and arguably the best-dressed. But why? Well his industry accolades speak for themselves. Paul van Dyk (born Matthias Paul in East Germany, 1971) is a Grammy Award-nominated artist, named "World's No.1 DJ" by DJ Magazine in both 2005 and 2006, and has remained in the "Top 10" since 1998. As of 2007, he has sold over 3 million albums worldwide.
But is this enough to convince anyone of his alleged greatness? Well Saturday night is your chance to find out when he plays at club Space. For only $75! You think I'm being facetious about the price? Tiesto (the other Euro trance demigod stealing van Dyk's thunder) charged $300 at his last LIV gig in October and didn't even break a sweat (the show was sold out regardless) so van Dyk's gig is a comparative bargain! Granted, trance is dead and buried, but the man is supposed to put on a hell of a show, and no better place than Space to host this bigger-than-life DJ.
Paul van Dyk at Space. Saturday, November 28. Doors open at 11 p.m. 34 NE 11 St., downtown Miami.
