Delray Beach hair salon Resta Delray has bridged the gap between follicle art and performance art for three years, and now the business is opening a new venue to take this effort further. Saturday, April 2, marks the grand opening of the Beat Cup, billed as a "coffee bar/ performing space," which is located in what used to be the space next door to Resta's location at 660 Linton Blvd.

The idea for the new venue grew out of co-owner Eric Perna's own musical interests. He has hosted jam sessions at Resta for more than a year, and now after renovations to Resta's bigger space, the adjunct business is ready for unveiling.

Beginning at 7, the opening night will feature art, a "trash fashion" show, and a martial arts performance, and the Dub City Derby Girls

will be on hand. Admission is free for this portion of the evening. At

10:30 p.m., a DJ set by Miami electro artist Panic Bomber will follow.
