This seven-inch by Hodapp's band Morbid Opera is now a collector's item.

She was a mother, wife, and lawyer ... but above all, Lisa Hodapp was a tried and true participant in the South Florida music scene since the late '70s. Known to all as a charismatic and genuine lady who was always quick with a smile, it is with heavy heart that I must report that Hodapp passed away this past Monday, April 12 from cancer. She leaves behind her longtime husband, Jeff (formerly of Roach Motel and the Drug Czars), and their two teenaged children.

Lisa was throughout the years and integral member of many classic South Florida punk rock bands like the Gargirls and Monistat 7. But what she'll be remembered for most will be her involvement with the legendary Morbid Opera, a mostly female punk rock/garage outfit that left quite a stamp during their tenure in the early '80s. The band's six-song seven-inch record (released on Sublapse Records in 1983) is highly sought after by collectors. I will be reviewing this disc in her honor in this week's Blast From the Past Column.

For those interested, there will be a viewing at the Kraeer Funeral Home (1655 North University Dr., Coral Springs) tonight, Thursday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. New Times wishes to extend their condolences to the Hodapp family, as well as to Charlie Pickett and his family for their recent loss of Charlie's father, Charles Sr.
