South Florida's Eight Best Concerts This Week

Graham Nash
Graham Nash may be known for "his membership in rock's first and still most formidable supergroup, Crosby, Stills & Nash," but the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer — who has garnered such accolades thanks to his work with Crosby and Stills — has, as pointed out by New Times, "attained several distinctive honors as a result of individual efforts. In 2010, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his services to music and charity. He also holds four honorary degrees, including music honors from the University of Salford in Manchester, England, and a doctorate in fine arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts." But this week, Nash will be taking it down a notch as he brings his This Path Tonight Tour 2016 to the Parker Playhouse.

Chris Brown
It's been seven years since Chris Brown's domestic-violence altercation with his then-girlfriend Rihanna, but in 2016, the pop star is bigger than ever. Sure, he may be one of the most obnoxious artists of all time, but as album and 2015 concert ticket sales show, fans somehow still love him. But hey, at least he's got talent, right?

Def Leppard
Def Leppard may be one of the defining hair-metal bands of the '80s, but underneath their teased hair and leather jackets, the rockers have some pretty fascinating stories. Just take a look at the band's one-armed drummer, Rick Allen. Allen, as broken down by New Times, "lost his left arm in a horrific Corvette wreck in 1984 — but that didn't stop him from working [with] Def Leppard. He carried on with a custom-made, cutting-edge drum kit and led the band through its most successful single, 'Pour Some Sugar on Me.'" Although the crash didn't derail the drummer from his career with the band, the accident left him with posttraumatic stress disorder. It was through art and photography that Allen was able to find solace. And today — in addition to touring with Def Leppard — he makes freehand pieces and wearable art.

Colin Hay
"Sometimes I played in a band, and sometimes I played solo," recalls Colin Hay of his time with Men at Work, the band that brought Hay global fame and a formidable stash of hits. "But whatever it is, it’s essentially the same. I stand on a stage and do my job; that is, to entertain the people and try to make it a great experience for everybody, on and off the stage.” Check him out for yourself this week at the Parker Playhouse.
