South Florida's Eight Best Concerts This Week

Diana Ross
Diana Ross may be known for her famous pipes, but the diva is just as much a talented actress as she is a singer. Aside from becoming one of the best-selling R&B/soul singers of her era, a 12-time Grammy nominee, and 2012 lifetime achievement award recipient, Ross was also nominated for Best Actress for her role as Billie Holiday in the 1972 biopic, Lady Sings the Blues. This week, though, the curly-haired superstar will be showing off her vocal talent at the Hard Rock Live.

Sauce Boss
Watch Bill Wharton the Sauce Boss cook up a giant pot of gumbo and sing the blues live on stage at Bamboo Room. After the show, which consists of Wharton both playing slide and churning stew, the Sauce Boss will serve massive amounts of gumbo to all his fans. Described by Wharton to have "the funk of New Orleans and the salsa of the Caribbean, like my music," you'll be left wanting more gumbo. And blues, of course.

Propaganda's Dark Valentine's Day Party
Forget roses and chocolate — Propaganda's celebrating the Hallmark holiday of love with a Dark Valentine's Day party. Enjoy "dumpster swing" from Que Lastima, "psychedelic punk-ass rock and soul" from James Leg, "indie electronic, raw rock" from Bonnie Riot, and "circus music from outer space" from the Zoo Peculiar, along with 2-4-1 cocktails and half-off drafts during happy hour from 8 to 10 p.m. Just be sure to wear all black — those clothed in darkness get in for $5.

Burlesque Roulette: Love Sick Edition
There's no better way to celebrate Galentine's Day than with improvised burlesque performances to your favorite love songs and breakup anthems. Spin the wheel of guilty pleasures and watch the ladies of Cupcake Burlesque dance to everything from Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover" to Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive." The show is all improv, so expect a night filled with surprises.

With performances by Miss Jenna Beth, Francean Fanny, Isadora Bull, Miss Cherry Mae, Candy Muldune, Franki Markstone, Morgan La Rue, Valentino Royale, Lucky von Lu, and Ruby Tesla. Excision
Make your eardrums explode as Canada's "bass music boss," Excision brings his 2016 Paradox Tour to the 954. As the DJ warned New Times' readers prior to his 2013 Club Cinema debut: "Expect to leave exhausted." And possibly, a little deaf.

Get your dose of "American funk, blues/rock, and soul" as Jersey's Robert Randolph & the Family Band take over Culture Room this week. Named one of Rolling Stone's 100 greatest guitarists of all time, this will be your chance to witness Randolph's pedal steel six-string talent in action.

Andrea Bocelli
As a hopeless romantic, Valentine's Day is near and dear to Andrea Bocelli's heart. "It is a special day," the Italian tenor told New Times last year. "It is an opportunity to celebrate love, which is the engine of the world. I believe in the strength of anniversaries, provided that they are filled with meaning, that they are given their true value. On San Valentine's Day, everybody has the possibility to express their affection and gratitude." And lucky for us, South Florida will have two nights to see Bocelli unleash his inner casanova this V-Day weekend.

Alan Parsons Project
Alan Parsons, as pointed out by New Times, "may have built his later success on the foundation of the Alan Parsons Project, but [the artist] had a rewarding professional career well before he turned his attention to the ambitious ensemble that would later bear his name." But it was his collaboration with songwriter and keyboard player Eric Woolfson that Parsons was able to make the leap from assistant engineer at London's famed Abbey Road Studios — where he earned his first production credit for the Beatles' Abbey Road album — to performer.
