Last we heard of Steve Angello he was getting into beef with Paris Hilton over her irrational request for hip-hop during a WMC DJ set. The man stood his ground and even got smacked by her security muscleheads in the process, and for this he gets props. Angello is back in Miami tonight to spin for the grand opening of new nightclub Opium at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

(As a side note, what's up with these extravagantly opulent Vegas-style $18-a-cocktail nightclubs opening in the middle of a hardcore recession? First LIV and now this?)

Greek DJ/Producer Angello gained massive international notoriety in the last few years as part of the "Swedish House Mafia" that includes Eric Prydz, Axwell and his childhood pal Sebastian Ingrosso. Big hits include the soulful (if somewhat derivative) "Show Me Love" which is pretty exemplary of his glitzy disco diva-vocalized big room productions. Commercial, yes, but as good a guilty pleasure as any after a few rounds of drinks at the club.

Steve Angello at Opium Hard Rock. Friday, April 10, doors open at 11 p.m. 5729 Seminole Way., Hollywood. 954-327-9094
