Palm Beach County is of late awash in acts that marry roots music styles with contemporary ones, usually punk. But if you listen closely to KillBillies, from West Palm Beach, you'll notice a different kind of twang -- an English one.
The duo is a marriage of sensibilities from both our shores and across the pond; Micah Scott hails from the states while Ben Childs hails from the U.K. As such, the Killbillies don't just draw from, say, American country and bluegrass, but also from Celtic sounds, English strains of folk, and beyond. The resulting sound is a high-energy blend that would appeal to a wide spectrum of music fans, from the Irish pub crowd to punkabilly greasers.
This week, the band kicks off its regular slate of gigs around Palm Beach County at South Shores Tavern in Lake Worth tomorrow night. The week also finds the band around Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter, and you can check out the KillBillies Facebook page for full details.
As a taste, here are seven tracks for streaming.
