Still feeding off the glistening energy from Memorial Day weekend's Amberland, Perpetual Groove gifts South Florida with two nights of feel-good tunes. The band, which schedules its annual visit to SoFla each December, is serving up another double-dose for fans at the Culture Room Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19.
The jam quartet promises a rollercoaster of auditory adventure. From Brock Butler's light, luring croon to John Hruby's classical-meets-progressive chops on the keys, there's plenty of sweetness to go around. The saltier combination of Albert Suttle's militant drumming and Adam Perry's funky bass create a balanced recipe for a musical feast. Providing that cozy feeling of 'riding the rail' to any fan who posts center floor, Culture Room is a venue that PGroove revisits time and time again for it's intimate, laid-back vibe and up-to-date sound quality.
During PGroove's December visit, the band unleashed the hip-hop beast
within, covering T.I.'s "Whatever You Like," along with a bitchin' cover
of the Chemical Brothers' "Sunshine Underground." Word on the street is
that Brock and the boys have been riding a glorious wave this year, so
if you're in need of a jam fix blended with airy riffs, dark breaks,
sing-songy lullabies and hypnotic lights, pencil in PGroove next
weekend. Don't miss The Heavy Pets, straight off the Wakarusa bandwagon,
opening Friday, June 18 and the Gulf-Coast's budding treasures, the
Aquaphonics, setting the mood Saturday, June 19.
