Many Floridians observed last week that the sweltering beast that is summer is beginning to break. Though the heat is still upon us, its intensity is waning at this point, and it will soon be safe to go back outside. Indeed, the coming of autumn (AKA weather in the 80s, not the 100s) is an occasion to celebrate in Florida. And there just so happens to be a nice outdoor festival coinciding with the September Equinox this weekend. The Treasure Coast Music Festival will take place Friday through Sunday in Vero Beach. We know that may be a bit of a hike, but, you know, it may actually be a couple of degrees cooler up there.

The festival is anchored by several classic-rock acts -- that you either know or don't know you know -- who were big in the '70s including: Brian Howe from Badfinger, Ray Sawyer from Dr. Hook, Pat Travers, Player, Molly Hatchet, and Blackfoot. And surrounding these still-rockin' dudes is an eclectic mix of semi- or almost-famous national acts -- including 2008 American Idol contestant Amanda Overmyer -- and some lesser-known regional acts.

To help you decide whether to make the trek, we're offering some videos here to remind you of who the heck those old bands are and to highlight some of the lesser-knowns that you may like to see.

Molly Hatchett -- "Flirting with Disaster"

Ever So Klever -- "Here Comes Mama"

South Florida's self-described "power swing" band ought to be lots of fun.

3rd Stone -- "Some People"

Out of Gainseville, this band brings a strong, positive vibe.

Well, in our opinion that's the meat of this event. Though there are 20 or so bands in all, so be sure to do some further exploring on your own.
