Homeland star and mommy of one, Claire Danes, stopped by Ellen earlier this week and revealed a fledgling hobby: raving at Berlin's famous (and famously nefarious) 24-hour warehouse nightclub, Berghain. During the segment, Danes shows off some dance moves, schools Ellen on "bad techno," and re-confirms that she is, indeed, a huge badass. Who says moms can't rave? (via)

Haitian-Canadian producer and DJ Kaytranada's hip-hop and funk-infused electronic beats have garnered him hundreds of thousands of online followers and collaborations with the likes of Talib Kweli, Vic Mensa, and Mobb Deep. This week, in a characteristically generous move, he dropped eight new addictively bouncy tracks via his SoundCloud, all available for free download. Caring for Our Community: 10 Bands 1 Cause
Local vinyl-peddler and our personal hero, Mikey Ramirez (of Fort Lauderdale's Radio-Active Records), went on live TV(!!!) this week to spread the word about the second annual 10 Bands 1 Cause initiative, which helps raise money and awareness for those diagnosed with cancer and their caretakers via sales from a set of special edition pink-colored vinyl. This week in culturally pertinent think-pieces, the folks over at Thump weighed in on a viral photo of some very public butt-stuff that went down at Georgia's TomorrowWorld EDM festival over the weekend.
"Does the rachetry of their revolt against the world outweigh the beauty of it?" poses its author, who also acknowledges the "fine line at the rave between freedom and idiocy." The Jesus And Mary Chain Working On First Album Since The ’90s
Fans of Scottish postpunk legends the Jesus and Mary Chain are likely making the trek down to Miami's Olympia Theater tonight to imbibe on the intoxicating sounds of the band's seminal 1985 album, Psychocandy, which will be played in its entirety in honor of its 30th anniversary.
Although they've been teasing fans with a follow-up to 1998’s Munki since at least 2007, leader singer Jim Reid gave an interview to Time Out New York this week in which he divulged:
We’re doing an album now. We actually just started recording. It’s early days, but I would say it’s a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let’s just wait and see.Wait and see, we shall, Jim! (via)
