Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was called to a Loxahatchee home about 4:30 p.m. yesterday on reports that someone found a horse in his pool.
According to the fire rescue spokesman, Capt. Albert Borroto, the home's resident opened a gate in the backyard of the 2317 Fawn Lane house.
Apparently spooked by the opening of a fence, Andy the Horse jumped over the fence and landed right in the swimming pool on the other side.
The resident immediately called 911 to tell them that a horse was in his pool, giving the dispatcher a story to tell for the rest of his/her life.
The caller said that Andy seemed fine and that his head was above the water but to send fire rescue anyway because THERE'S A FRIGGIN HORSE IN THE POOL.
Palm Beach County's Special Operations Unit soon arrived and fitted Andy with a harness. It then used a tow truck to lift him out of the pool. This took about two hours.
Andy was finally pulled out around 6:30 p.m.
The horse appeared to be in good condition after being removed from the pool.
