Anonymous will be hitting up Hollywood's Arts Park at Young Circle today as part of a global protest. Starting in Washington, D.C., and all international parts in between, the group will be protesting issues ranging from NSA surveillance to government corruption.

The theme of today's protest is to "remind this world what it has forgotten, that fairness, justice and freedom are more than just words."

Today is November 5, or as some know it: Guy Fawkes Day (if you've heard a coworker say, "Remember, remember the fifth of November" today, that's where it's from.

Guy Fawkes planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605 when he and others tried to blow up Parliament. The protagonist in Alan Moore's graphic novel V for Vendetta wears a Guy Fawkes mask, and it has since become the symbol for the hacktivist collective Anonymous.

The group, which also plans to hit up Miami, will be holding a peaceful protest at Arts Park, located on 1 N. Young Circle in Hollywood.

Karina Syke, organizer for the Hollywood protest, reiterated the group's insistence on a peaceful rally on the group's Facebook page:

"Lets be civil towards civil rights. Lets introduce ourselves to the World! We are anonymous and we are your brother, sister, mother, and fathers and WE ARE NOT a bunch of rebels as many think we are! Bring signs that will help people understand what is our goals and who we are so they can feel ENCOURAGED to join us!!! I deeply appreciate you being a part of this historical event. We are on a path towards a new consciousness and a beautiful future!

A request for comment from the Hollywood protest organizers has yet to be returned.

The protest is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. and go on until 7.
