Coconut Palm Elementary, and New Renaissance Middle School in Broward County were put on lockdown this morning following a fatal shooting on the county line in Miramar.

Miramar Police say a 23-year old man was found shot dead at around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning in front of a home along the 6100 block of Southwest 41st Street.

Police then had Miramar's Town Center and other parts in the area placed on lockdown as they investigated.

The Sun-Sentinel reports that heavily armed police officers were spotted escorting a man and two women from the house

So far, there is no further report on the people being detained, or the dead man.

Police had the area placed on lockdown as a precaution.

The area includes the Town Center at 2300 Civic Center Drive, two schools, and a library.

According to a school district spokeswoman, students at Coconut Palm Elementary, which is located at 13601 Monarch Lakes Blvd., were able to move about freely within the building until the lockdown was lifted at 11 a.m.

The area near County Line Road has been closed off to traffic in both directions as police investigate.

The two women and man who have been detained are currently being questioned by police.
