Gee, what could go wrong when you and your buddy just smoked some weed in your car, and with the remaining ounce still in the car, you order a "blunt and some herbs" at the Burger King drive-through?
Apparently it's enough for the cops to get involved.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Shawn Porter and his buddy pulled into the drive-through at the fast-food joint around 10:30 p.m. last night in Deltona.
When it was time to order, police say one of the men knew exactly what he wanted, and yelled "a blunt and some herbs" into the speaker.
(Those are "slang terms for marijuana," the sheriff's office notes.)
Apparently, the cashier at Burger King was less than impressed, especially after she told police when they came to the window, the car reeked of weed.
At that point, she wrote down the car's description and license plate number. The sheriff's office says she called the cops, telling the dispatcher "it's not that it's a major emergency," and added that "it's more of a nuisance than anything."
"I wanted to report their tag number, because they are smoking drugs in their car," the woman reportedly told the dispatcher.
A deputy ran the license plate number, and found the address of the vehicle's owner, which happened to be about two miles away from the Burger King.
About nine minutes later, the two men pulled into the driveway, and they got out of the car carrying their Burger King bags.
The sheriff's office says he caught some of the weed smell as well, and Porter admitting to lighting up in the car.
Aside from finding a "marijuana cigarette," the cops say they also found a couple bags totaling around an ounce of pot.
According to the sheriff's office, Porter admitted the weed was his, and was booked into the Volusia County Jail.
Porter was being held on $1,000 bond after his charge of possessing more than 20 grams of marijuana.
