Boynton Beach police have released the surveillance video from yesterday's bizarre attempted robbery at the
The video (which covers multiple angles) shows two thin, wiry males, later identified as David Tucker, 24, of Miami, and Kendal Edgar Lowry, 26, of Opa-Locka, entering the store, then minutes later leaving. They're intercepted by store employees, briefly exchange words, then try to run.
According to police, Lowry is the one wearing a yellow tank top, gray pants and gray boots (flats that come to the mid-calf), and Tucker wore a pink shirt, denim skirt and flip flops.
In the video (which was edited by the police department) you can see the store employees tackle Tucker and hold on, even after Lowry unleashes several streams of yellow pepper spray. You can also see passersby begin to choke and cough immediately.
Lowry gets away, but as Tucker struggles to get free, Lowry returns to pop store employees at least three more times in the face. When the pepper spray runs out, it appears Lowry uses the can to hit the Home Depot employees in the face.
Eventually the employees relent -- one is knocked to the ground -- and the two robbers run through the parking lot. That's where a police officer responding to 911 calls spotted and arrested them in a Red Ford Explorer.
It's unclear how many people were injured during the scuffle, but at least one older woman was taken to the hospital after she passed out from the fumes.
Lowry will be charged with robbery with a weapon, aggravated battery with a weapon, and aggravated battery on a person over 65.
Tucker will be charged with robbery with a weapon, aggravated battery with a weapon, aggravated battery on a person over 65, and possession of an anti-shoplifting device.
Two other men were also detained at the same time. Jeffrey G. Baldwin, 37, of Miami, will be charged with robbery with a weapon. The other man was released without charges.
