Don't dis Donald Trump. Rihanna is learning that lesson the hard way after being slammed by the ticked-off tycoon for her disrespectful disappearing act Saturday night at his private club on Palm Beach Island.
Rihanna used illness as an excuse to cancel her Palm Beach performance at the last minute -- just hours
before she was set to perform for the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute's 20th Annual Discovery Celebration event at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Club.
But
that didn't stop a healthy-looking Rihanna from getting on stage the
very next night, where she performed alongside Drake and Kanye West at
the 2011 NBA All-Star Games in Los Angeles.
According to Molly McHale, a media spokesperson for the Dana-Faber
Cancer Institute, Rihanna -- who committed to perform back in October --
informed the event chairperson she would not be making it just 24 hours
before she was set to be in Palm Beach for the charity event.
"Her
doctors told Paul [Fireman] she was still sick from the bronchitis she
had during the Grammys and wasn't feeling well. By late evening on
Friday [February 18], she had canceled," said McHale.
Fireman scrambled to find a replacement Friday night, deciding on former American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson, who flew in the next day and was ready to perform Saturday evening for the event.
"She was great, a lot of fun," said McHale. "She's a wonderful singer, and we were glad to have her."
