The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is currently investigating a shooting last night that left one man dead.

According to Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Travis Mandell, the shooting took place around 9:50 p.m. yesterday in the 1100 block of NE 16th Court.

Mandell says that when officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, the wounded man had already been transported by his friends to Broward General Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police haven't yet released the name of the man killed in the shooting but describe him as being black and possibly in his late 20s.

Mandell says investigators are looking into the circumstances of the shooting as well as finding the identity of the shooter.

The cops ask that if you know information about the circumstances of the shooting or the identity of the shooter, call Detective Jaggers at 954-828-5970 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
