A brief update to this story, posted last night in anticipation of Mike Huckabee's announcement re: his presidential candidacy:

There will be no presidential candidacy. As Huck explains in the below video, he was practically a shoe-in for the presidency. All the objective evidence told him to run. He thought his poll numbers looked good, and he had the support of smart, capable, and decent folks who could help him "to the finish line."

It was only when he was alone, he explains, "in quiet and reflective moments, that [he] had not only clarity but an inexplicable inner peace...

...a peace that exceeds human understanding. All the factors say "go," but my heart says "no." And that's the decision I've made...

Now look, I don't fully understand it myself. But I'm sure the pundits will! But I do know this: That under the best of circumstances, being president is a job that takes one to the limit of his or her human capacity. For me, to do it apart from an inner confidence that I was undertaking it without God's full blessing is simply unthinkable.

Say, Huck -- are you sure that small, still voice urging you not to run was God? Any chance it might have been Michele Bachmann, hiding out under your bed?
