A quick thank you to the judges of the Green Eyeshade Awards, a journalism contest that named the Juice the third-best blog at this past week's annual banquet. The contest is open to media in 11 states in the Southeast. This particular category prized "outstanding commentary or reporting in an online blog." Um, guilty?

Seriously, a very sincere thanks to the New Times writers whose posts keep the Juice fresh day in, day out. Thanks to behind-the-scenesters like Keith Hollar and Devin Desjarlais, who catch the typos and circulate reader traffic, respectively. Thanks to the commenters who ensure that every day this blog has a lively discussion. Often profane, but always lively.

Congratulations to the category's first- and second-place winners, as well as to New Times staff writers Michael Mooney, who won for sports commentary for this feature article about greyhound racing, and Lisa Rab, who won for her investigative article about the Everglades Club of Palm Beach. Congrats, also, to the Sun-Sentinel, which won top prize, the Green Eyeshade Award for its Trust Betrayed investigative series.
