Taj Michael Harris, a 28-year-old man from Lauderdale Lakes, was struck and killed Wednesday afternoon by an Infiniti that ran a red light at the intersection of Rock Island Road and Forest Boulevard in North Lauderdale.

The driver of the Infiniti has been identified as Markita Bynes, an 18-year-old from Margate who was heading west on Forest when she collided with the Mazda driven by Harris, who was northbound and in the near lane. From the Broward Sheriff's Office release:

The impact caused the vehicles to careen across all six lanes of Rock Island Road, then crash into two parked cars on an access road. The Mazda came to rest almost vertically in between the other vehicles.
Bynes is also hospitalized, though her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. BSO has not reported what caused her to allegedly run the light.
