The University of Michigan today announced that its football coaching staff violated NCAA rules for the amount of athletics-related activity its players could perform and the number of coaches who could be employed. Although the investigation concluded that the violations were far less severe than portrayed in local media accounts, Michigan's athletic program volunteered to place itself on probation for three years.
Judging by the report released by the university, which you can read here, a former Deerfield Beach football star, Justin Feagin, was not part of the investigation.
Feagin was dismissed from the university last year after being implicated in a drug deal with a South Florida trafficker nicknamed "Tragic."
After Feagin's case came to light, Michigan's athletic director vowed to investigate the way his football coaches vetted the character of recruits. It's not known what came of that investigation.
Four members of the Michigan football team hail from Broward/Palm Beach, including Denard Robinson, a dual-threat quarterback who starred at Deerfield Beach High School.
