Update: The PBC FR Hazmat has tested the powder substance and determined it to be non-hazardous, non-protein "silica" based substance.
Original post: A Corrections Support Personnel (CSP) worker at the Palm Beach County Jail was pulling an inmate's property when a powered substance seeped out. The worker is employed in the inmate property unit.
The powdery substance was discovered at around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, and early reports are that no one has been exposed.
The Inmate Property Office, which is located on the second floor of the Palm Beach County Jail, was immediately put on lock down.
As of this morning, only the second floor of the jail where the inmate property office is located is shut down.
PBC Fire Rescue Hazmat has been called in to determine what exactly the white powder is.
