Earlier this week, we brought you the news of what appeared to be a string of violence in Belle Glade. In the span of ten days, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported a dead body found in the street, a stabbing, and an alleged burglary/homicide at a convenience store.
For a sugar-farming town of about 16,500 people, this might raise a few eyebrows. But PBSO spokesman Eric Davis says it shouldn't.
"One has no relationship with the other," he says of the crimes. "It's not a Belle Glade
issue."
He points out that the stabbing allegedly occurred
during a domestic dispute -- the kind that might have happened in
Delray Beach or Boca Raton -- and had nothing to do with the burglary.
As for the dead body, "No one said that was criminal," Davis says.
Ah, yes. People often drop dead in the street of natural causes.
The Juice asked Davis to confirm whether foul play was involved in that death. He said he would check with investigators and get back to us. Three days later, he still has not responded.
