The Broward Republican Executive Committee issued a statement on Petrocelli's resignation, while the man himself is citing "irreconcilable differences" to Republican activists.

Back in December, we told you about Petrocelli filing for for bankruptcy twice, the latest coming in November of 2011, while amassing around $300,000 worth of bills.

Twelve weeks into the job, Petrocelli says it's in the best interest of the party that he take his ball and go home:

"In the best interest of the Republican Party of Broward County, aka BREC, I hereby resign as Chairman effective immediately."

Petrocelli won the job back in December after his challenger, Karen Harrington, dropped out of the election. He also got a strong endorsement from then-outgoing Chairman Richard DeNapoli.

The Executive Committee's Board will soon announce an election of a new chairman in accordance with the rules of the Republican Party of Florida.

As for Petrocelli, he goes from working for dicks to being a private one, as he's opened his own detective agency.
