The Sun Sentinel, which once upon a time endorsed Marco Rubio for senator, has turned on the presidential hopeful in a scathing editorial that calls Rubio to quit his day job.

The piece, published Tuesday night, basically calls out Rubio for collecting a fat paycheck and then doing diddly-squat for the people he's supposed to be representing in Washington, D.C.

“You are paid $174,000 per year to represent us, to fight for us, to solve our problems,” the editorial says. “You are ripping us off, senator.”

The crux of the Sentinel's argument — which is nothing new when it comes to arguments against Rubio — is that he's missed an inordinate amount of votes on the Senate floor this year, which is kind of what he was elected to do.

Rubio, the piece says, "has missed more votes than any other senator this year. His seat is regularly empty for floor votes, committee meetings, and intelligence briefings. He says he's MIA from his J-O-B because he finds it frustrating and wants to be president, instead."

The cringe-worthy "MIA-J-O-B" line aside, it's a pretty scorching hot-take on the man who wants to lead America into a new century. And yet, it doesn't end there.

The Sun-Sentinel basically comes out and tells Rubio to take this job and shove it if he's not going to be around to do it.

"If you hate your job, senator, follow the honorable lead of House Speaker John Boehner and resign it," the paper says.

Sick burn.

Rubio has been deflecting these kinds of criticisms since he announced his candidacy for the White House.

On Sunday, he told CNN that he's not missing votes on purpose but because he's kind of busy running for president and all.

"Everyone needs to run their own campaign," Rubio said. "I'm not missing votes because I'm on vacation. The most important thing a senator does is constituent service. We're still involved in looking out for Florida's issues."

Ah, but the Sentinel was watching and called him out.

"It is unpersuasive — and incredible, really — that you say your vote doesn't matter," the paper says.  "Either do your job, Sen. Rubio, or resign it."

It's a harsh rebuke, and probably a little over the top when it comes to asking the guy to quit his job.

But it's a far cry from where the Sentinel was back when it endorsed Rubio for senator in 2010 and only recently endorsed Mitt Romney for president during the last election, using the way he ran the Winter Olympics as a reason he should've replaced Obama.

This from the paper that advertises boner pills on its front page.

Still, it has a point.

In all, Rubio has missed 92 of 284 roll calls this year.
