Friday

When you think of some of the most badass musicians of all time, Johnny Cash has to be near the top of that list. While the Man in Black left us in 2003, his spirit is alive and well thanks to tribute acts like Cash Unchained. The Virginia-bred tribute brand hits Fort Lauderdale on Friday evening and to cover all the classics. Count on early nuggets from his Sun Records days and goodness from the 96 albums he recorded throughout his prolific career. Ninety-six albums is not a typo, by the way. 7 p.m. on Friday at Revolution Live, 100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale; jointherevolution.net. Tickets cost $14.

In Living Color. Scary Movie. White Chicks
. What actor-comedian are we talking about here? Still don’t know? Okay, The Wayans Brothers: That’s your last clue. It’s Marlon Wayans, of course. In addition to his hit, self-titled show on Netflix (Marlon), the long-time funny dude is currently hitting comedy clubs throughout the U.S. His latest stop? A multi-day stint at WPB’s Improv Comedy Club this weekend. 7:30 and 10 p.m. on Friday and select shows through Sunday at Palm Beach Improv, 550 S. Rosemary Ave., West Palm Beach; palmbeachimprov.com. Tickets cost $35 to $45.

Saturday

Free yoga and a free tequila cocktail? Yum. Brimstone Woodfire Grill in Pembroke Pines is serving up all kinds of goodness in the New Year. This includes a free, one-hour yoga session presented by Yoga Connection this Saturday at 10 a.m. on its expansive patio. Once you are finished saluting the sun, a free Volcan De Mi Tierra tequila beverage awaits you. 10 a.m. on Saturday at Brimstone Woodfire Grill, 14575 SW Fifth St, Pembroke Pines; brimstonewoodfiregrill.com. Admission is free.

Run for beer? That should get you moving. See Saturday.
Brewery Running Series
Tired of the same old jog? Well, there’s a new option for you. The Brewery Running Series has landed in Florida and its first event is Saturday morning. The run/jog/walk/whatever pace you want to do it starts and ends at LauderAle Brewery. Once you complete the course, you get a free brewski and some swag. Let’s all 'cheers' to that! 11 a.m. on Saturday at LauderAle Brewery, 3305 SE 14th Ave., Fort Lauderdale; eventbrite.com. Registration costs $30 to $100.

Who is ready to ring in the Brew year? Har. Har. Har. Okay, really, it’s time to drink some beers and play some games. The Beats & Brews Block Party is happening at Prosperity Brewers in Boca on Saturday. Presented by the League of Independent Tailgating, Cazes, DJ Bonkers and DJ Ben Nigrelli will provide the tunes and Tucker Duke’s will provide the grub. In addition to enjoying a slew of Prosperity offerings, there will be life-size beer pong, ping-pong, cornhole and more to keep you entertained. Noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Prosperity Brewers, 4160 NW First Ave. #21, Boca Raton; eventbrite.com. Tickets cost $10 to $25.

Eminem, Dwayne Johnson and Cameron Diaz were all born in 1972. The Marshall Tucker Band started rockin’ that year, as well — and they still rock to this day. The band, led by founding member and lead singer Doug Gray, has more than 20 studio albums to its name. “Heard it in a Love Song,” “Fire on the Mountain,” and “Last of the Singing Cowboys” are always solid for your pre-show playlist. 8 p.m. on Saturday at Parker Playhouse, 707 NE Eighth St, Fort Lauderdale; parkerplayhouse.com. Tickets cost $45 to $95.

Sunday

I’m coming out. I want the world to know. Got to let it show.” Name that artist? Diana Ross, of course. The music icon is still rockin’ and she will roll into Hollywood’s Hard Rock Event Center on Sunday evening. In addition to her bazillion hits with the Supremes and during her illustrious solo career, she also won the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016 and even performed in last year’s Macy’s Annual Thanksgiving Parade. 8 p.m. on Sunday at Hard Rock Event Center, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood; seminolehardrockhollywood.com. Tickets cost $50 to $110.

Monday

Have you been slacking on your opportunity to ice skate in awesome places? It’s time to jump in to action. Monday is your last day to enjoy the Hockey Holidays Ice Rink at Huizenga Park in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Presented by the Florida Panthers, the rink is 80 by 40 feet, meaning there is plenty of room for you to skate around gracefully... or fall over and over again. 6 to 10 p.m. on Monday at Panthers Holiday Rink, 32 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale; nhl.com. $15 for individual skate.

A pretty awesome art exhibit debuted at History Fort Lauderdale in November, which is also Native American Heritage Month. Seminole Art: Scene from the Frontlines is now in its homestretch at the downtown museum and should be enjoyed before it’s too late. With works from the likes of Elgin Jumper, Jimmy Osceola, Brian Zepeda and more, the exhibit spotlights the legacy of the Seminole tribe as well as their present influence on the “Venice of America.” Noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and daily through January 28 at History Fort Lauderdale, 231 Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale; historyfortlauderdale.org. Admission costs $7 to $15.

Wednesday

This year’s Groove Cruise departs from Miami on January 10 and is completely sold-out. But, if you still want to get in on the action, the Groove Cruise Miami Pre-Party is happening at Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday evening. The theme is “Welcome to Eden,” so come in your most impressive snake, apple or garden-inspired garb. Roger Sanchez, Doc Brown, Espinal & Nova and others will provide the EDM beats as you enjoy Bonnet House’s always-serene grounds. 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, 900 N. Birch Rd., Fort Lauderdale; eventbrite.com. Tickets cost $30 to $40.
