Strogoff Prevot Jr. had two babysitters yesterday, but both his 16-year-old aunt and his 13-year-old aunt fell asleep, failing to notice that the 2-year-old boy had left his West Palm Beach home to wander the streets, according to a statement just released by the Boynton Beach Police Department.

Prevot was found by a motorist on Hypoluxo Road around 5 p.m. Tuesday. UPDATE: Here is the just-released audio of the 9-1-1 call by the motorist. Prevot's parents were located around 9:15 that night. More details on how the boy got away after the jump.

Strogoff Prevot Jr.'s mother, 21-year-old Floriante Petit-Bien, works during the day at a home health-care agency and at night attends cosmetology school in West Palm, according to a Boynton police news release. It continues:

Her son is usually watched by his maternal grandmother. On Tuesday, the grandmother spent most of the day running errands with Prevot Jr. At around 4 p.m., she left the boy with his aunts, ages 16 and 13, at their house onSeaford Lane while she went to visit her son in West Palm Beach.

The two teenage aunts fell asleep while watching the child. Around 6 p.m., the 13-year-old woke up and assumed Prevot Jr. was sleeping in the room with his 16-year-old aunt. The 13-year-old took a shower and went on the Internet.

The 16-year-old aunt woke up at about 7:30 p.m. and assumed her nephew was with her sister. Neither one check[ed] with the other.

Around 8:45 p.m., a third aunt arrived home from work and asked the teens where their nephew was. When they couldn't find him, they called their mother (the boy's grandmother) who advised Prevot Jr. was not with her. They then called 911.

The boy's father, Strogoff Prevot, lives in Boynton Beach. He currently has temporary custody of Prevot Jr. The Department of Children and Families has opened an investigation.
