Christopher Holmes, an American Airlines captain from Wilton Manors, has been arrested on a Texas complaint accusing him of transporting child pornography.
According to a federal criminal complaint, Holmes allegedly used online chat services and email to exchange pornographic images of children bound and gagged. Some of the children in the images were as young as 6.
An American spokeswoman says Holmes, who's been with the airline for 23 years, has been withheld from duty.
Feds took notice of Holmes when, after investigating an unrelated case in Wisconsin, they discovered Yahoo! Messenger chat logs between their perp in Wisconsin and Holmes from June 6, 2007 to January 2, 2010.
Via his chat screen name toilettop2000, Holmes wrote of his desire to violently rape and sexually assault children." the complaint said.
Investigators kept tabs on Holmes from that point on, particularly because he traveled in and out of the country while on the job.
On August 16, feds met Holmes at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, just as he was returning from Mexico, and confiscated the laptop he was traveling with.
Holmes admitted the laptop was his.
The images investigators found were disturbing, to put it mildly.
There was an image of a young girl, between the ages of 6 and 10, gagged and bound, hanging upside down with a marker inserted into her vagina. There was a similar image of a prepubescent boy, bound and gagged, with an object inserted into his anus.
Another image depicted a child, who appeared to be dead, covered in feces. A caption to that photo reads: "This novel way of spitting a meat animal requires that you wire in appendages to the spit before placing it over the coals."
Yet another image showed a boy holding a man's erect penis.
Investigators also found a chat log with "sadistic and violent descriptions of child rape, torture and murder."
Holmes remains in custody at the Broward Main Jail.
Federal prosecutors are seeking to have Holmes held without bond until trial.
