No. 40: Chivito From Cilantro's
Calling the chivito a mere sandwich is like calling Charlie Sheen your average Hollywood whackjob.
The national sammie of Uruguay, it's an appetite-busting Manly-Manwich, cramming breakfast, lunch and dinner into a crusty, torpedo-sized roll that practically requires you to unhinge your jaw like a snake to devour. And where do you find this fully loaded example of gastronomic testosterone on a bun? In genteel, horsey Wellington, that's where. Cilantro's doesn't look much different than any of the billion-gazillion other delis in South Florida, but when you grab a seat and watch the cooks slap thin slices of filet mignon on the flat-top, then transfer them to a bun and gild with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and bacon, topping them all off with a fried egg, you know you're not in Flakowitz any more, Toto. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a side order of Tiger Blood.
