A new burger joint is coming to Broward County, slated to open in Fort Lauderdale later this spring. B Square Burgers & Booze will take up residence at 1021 E. Las Olas Blvd. in late March or early April, offering guests a variety of creative burgers and a do-it-yourself salad bar.

The concept is the work of restaurateurs Thomas Febbraio, Marc Katzenberg, and Rafael Palomino, who together have more than five decades of combined industry experience. Febbraio is co-owner of the Spotted Horse (Westport, Connecticut) and Gray Goose Cafe (Southport, Connecticut); Katzenberg is founder and co-owner of Katzenberg's (Scarsdale, New York); and Palomino's roster of establishments includes Greenwich Tavern (Greenwich, Connecticut), Pacifico (Center Valley, Pennsylvania), Tapas on Main (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania), and Bistro Latino (Tuckahoe, New York).

B Square's creators say the restaurant will offer more than a dozen burgers made with a proprietary blend of grass-fed beef that is both antibiotic- and hormone-free. Selections include the McDuck, a burger topped with seared duck, foie gras, and a Concord grape glaze, or the Aww Shuck-Its, a burger finished with fried oysters, grilled caramelized onions, and a Gorgonzola cream sauce.

Aside from burgers, the B Square menu will feature jumbo chicken wings, sub sandwiches, and “B” Dogs — the restaurant's own version of a hot dog, made exclusively from American Kobe beef. The foot-long Decadent Dog, for example, will be prepared with truffle oil, sautéed lobster, and garlic butter.

Larger, main plates will include a 16-ounce, grilled, center-cut pork chop, while a salad bar will offer a wide variety of ingredients for thousands of customizable combinations.

According to its owners, one of B Square's main attractions will be an indoor/outdoor, 20-seat bar offering a wide selection of craft beer, specialty cocktails, and wines by the glass or bottle. That means guests can look forward to B Square Burgers' plans to offer live music, happy-hour specials, and a weekend brunch.

B Square Burgers & Booze will be located at 1021 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. For updates, visit facebook.com/BSquareBurgers.
