South Florida bartenders: Do you have what it takes to go head-to-head with the area's best mixologists, bar chefs, and drink masters? If so, you might want to consider competing in the locally based and organized Bar Brawls, an elimination-style competition taking place in Delray Beach in September.

Bartenders will brawl this fall during a bracket-style bartending competition dubbed Bar Brawls. The event is being hosted by Max’s Social House, what will be an 11-week single-elimination competition featuring 24 of the South Florida's best bartenders from Stuart to Fort Lauderdale. The round-by-round bouts are being modeled after the success of the Max's Group Chef vs. Chef competition, which began earlier this summer at SoHo's sister establishment Max's Harvest.

"Due to the very positive feedback for our Chef vs. Chef competition at Max’s Harvest, we decided to continue the theme with a showcase highlighting the talents of some of the best South Florida bartenders," said Dennis Max, partner in the Max Group. "The convivial vibe and overall theme at SoHo is the ideal setting for Bar Brawls."

Bar Brawls competitors will demonstrate their craft using mystery ingredients each week to create three cocktails. The winning cocktail will be featured at Max’s Social House. Juice Buzz will provide exotic fruit and vegetable juices for the event. The competitions will culminate each week with a late night happy hour at the restaurant. The grand prize will be an all expenses paid trip to Tales of the Cocktail 2016 in New Orleans, including flight, hotel and admission to the event.

Bar Brawls is set to launch Wednesday, September 30 and continues every Wednesday until the final event on December 16. Admission to attend Bar Brawls is $10 per person, and proceeds will benefit the event sponsor, the Richard David Kaan Melanoma Foundation, a West Palm Beach-based nonprofit whose mission is to save lives through education about the prevention and early detection of skin cancer, especially melanoma.

Think you have what it takes? Space is still available for bartenders interested in showing their stuff. To be considered, email Honey Ackerman at [email protected].

The first Bar Brawl will take place at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, at Max’s Social House, located at 116 NE Sixth Ave., Delray Beach. Full table service will be available during the event at the inside and outside tables and at the outdoor bar area until 11 p.m. Late-night street food will be served from 11 p.m. to closing.
