The Ritz-Carlton is hoping to lure locals to its oceanfront Fort Lauderdale establishment Burlock Coast Seafare & Spirits with new weekend brunch and weekday happy-hour specials.

Overseen by chef de cuisine Gavin Pera and beverage director James Camp, the new offerings will highlight the restaurant's artisanal approach to food and drink.

Happy hour — appropriately dubbed "Splice the Mainbrace," an order given aboard naval vessels to issue the crew an alcoholic drink — goes down every weekday from 4 to 6 p.m. For $6 each, imbibers can enjoy their choice of house Chardonnay or Cabernet wine by the glass; Burlock Coast's exclusive beer, the BC Bootlager; well spirits; or one of several signature cocktails.

To keep the good times flowing, specials continue from 6 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday, with additional happy-hour specials. On Tap Tap Tuesday, the bar has $5 draft beer and $8 casked wine, while Wine Down Wednesday offerings include half-price bottles of wine and half-price charcuterie boards.

As for food, the kitchen has prepared a selection of $6 bar bites that include a rock shrimp fry with a lime and passionfruit aioli; spicy avocado tomatillo dip served with house chips; a half-dozen East Coast oysters; and a cheese of the day offered with almonds and a house-made jam.

Of course, no waterfront hotel restaurant would be complete without a Sunday brunch, and Burlock Coast's brunch — now available from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday — doesn't disappoint. South Florida's superbrunchers can choose from a number of Pera's new à la carte dishes like the Hog and the Egg, two Lake Meadow poached eggs over pork belly and dressed with Hollandaise sauce.

The Challah French toast sandwich doesn't sound bad either, prepared with a house-made jam, candied pecans, and maple rum butter. And the BC Burger — topped with rum bacon jam, Mt. Tam cheese, arugula, tomato, and a choice of duck or hen egg — could probably cure that hangover. If you're feeling fancy, a niçoise salad dresses up frisée lettuce with haricots verts, quail eggs, and confit potato.

Bargain hunters can appreciate raw-bar items like $1 oysters served with a citrus Champagne mignonette or chilled Florida shrimp with Burlock Coast’s house-made cocktail sauce, while the drinking crowd can get punchy for $20 per person with options that include bottomless drinks like mimosas, bloody marys, the restaurant's Bootlager, or Camp's rum punch.

Burlock Coast is located at the Ritz-Carlton at 1 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-302-6460, or visit burlockcoast.com.
