What $15 Gets You: Parrillada with a side salad (or fries) and an Anchor Steam.

Every now and again you just need a big plate of meat in the middle of the day. The gourmet market and power lunch spot in the Gables serves it up cooked perfectly to your liking. They prepare the meat in purist Argentine fashion - salted and grilled over high heat.

Their Parillada includes a cut of Asado (tender, fatty short ribs), a perfectly crisp piece of Molleja (Sweetbreads or Thalamus glands), Riňon (tough, almost waxy piece of kidney), an savory piece of homemade Chorizo and a rather bland, fatty link of Morcilla (blood sausage) and two delicious pieces of Vacio (flank steak).

The salad was cut from fresh lettuce into hard-to-skewer ribbons; they’re drenched in balsamic vinaigrette. It was redeemed by four slices of rich, firm tomato.

Final Verdict: For fifteen bucks, that’s a lotta goddamn meat. Some cuts are better than others, but it’s a pretty good deal when you consider it includes a decent beer. Not too shabby. -- Calvin Godfrey
