The 49th-annual Christmas on Las Olas

celebration on November 29th is next week. Five blocks of Las Olas

Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale will be festively decorated with lights,

decorations, and snow for the occasion.

The family event will

feature music, entertainment, and new this year -- the first annual

Christmas Cookie Battle sponsored by Broward/Palm Beach New Times, benefiting the American Lung Association.

Three

talented bakers will vie for the title of Best Christmas Cookie Baker, judged

by a panel of experts and you!  For a $2 donation to the ALA, you can

try the cookies and vote for your favorite. Which ones will win your

heart?  Here are the participating bakeries:

Tea For Two Cookie Company
Tea for Two Cookie Co. is an on-line artisan bakery located in Ft.

Lauderdale. Founded by super mom Kim Neale in April of 2010, Tea for

Two Cookie Co. was inspired by the love of family, food, and a genuine

fascination with human connections. Like many who love to cook and bake

for others, the kitchen is the setting for the most memorable family

gatherings. The plaque hanging in her kitchen reads " The kitchen is the

heart of the home".

Cindy Made Them
A mother of three little ones, Cindy started baking cookies for friends and family. When her family became adoring fans of her baking skills, she decided to turn her hobby into an online business. Cindy Made Them specializes in adorable cookies in the shapes of bees, hearts, footballs, and (of course), gingerbread men and trees.

East End Eats
Located on Las Olas Boulevard, East End Eats is a small breakfast and lunch place that packs big taste into their menu. Baker Dominique Beckers comes to this cafe from We Take The Cake, making key lime tarts, empanadas, muffins, and other treats, making this cafe a sweet place for brunch.

Christmas on Las Olas runs from 5 to 10 p.m. on Las Olas Boulevard from SE Sixth Avenue to SE 11th Avenue. Admission is free.
