You might call it a collaboration between two of the United States' west coasts -- the west coast of Florida and the Pacific Northwest. we simply call it two craft brewers coming together to create something amazing.
Widmer Brothers Brewery in Portland Oregon and Cigar City Brewing from Tampa have jointly created a set of barrel-aged beers and are celebrating with a release party tonight at Tap 42.
Be prepared to drink heartily this evening, Monday, July 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., when Tap 42 Bar & Kitchen hosts the first stop in a statewide tour of select bars and restaurants to introduce Florida to these creative and crafted brews based on a classic cocktail.

The collection of Gentlemen's Club old-fashioned-Style ales draw inspiration from the classic Old Fashioned cocktail and the gentlemen's clubs where the drink was first served over 100 years ago.
Each of the three varieties start with an old ale recipe as the base, then are brewed and finished with ingredients found locally at the two breweries' states, like oranges from Florida and ripe Oregon cherries.
The hops and malts were selected to recreate the notes found in an old fashioned, and each beer was aged in different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, resulting in three unique versions of the beer, including the Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Gentlemen's Club (10.5% ABV); the Bourbon Barrel-Aged Gentlemen's Club ( 10.5% ABV); and the New Oak-Aged Gentlemen's Club, 9.5% ABV. The beers range from $7-8, making it affordable to try all three.
