Come Sunday, February 6, there will be super parties, super food and booze, super commercials, super hype, and super hangovers. Oh, yeah. And a football game too... the Hardhats versus the Cheeseheads. Or something like that.
This year, however, the football part of the annual Super Bowl ritual might really live up to the various forms of chemical- and corporate-induced madness that accompany it, which means you might have to
get your face out of the guacamole and let go of that beer bottle for a minute and actually watch the game.
If that sounds like your idea of a Super Sunday, the new Deck 84 in Delray Beach is throwing a party that sounds pretty super itself.
Featured
at Burt Rapoport's waterfront restaurant will be some 30 current and
former NFL players and 2011 draftees, from established stars like
Brandon Flowers of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacoby Ford of the Oakland
Raiders to potential high draft picks like Ryan Williams, Ahmad Black,
and Rahim Moore. The posh Lady Atlantic yacht will be docked at the
restaurant as a VIP floating lounge, and you can pig out on a
complimentary buffet while watching the game on a bevy of flat-screen
TVs.
The event is the official Super Bowl viewing party of and
benefit for Prep and Sports Inc., a nonprofit group that provides
academic and athletic programs to at-risk youth. The party kicks off at 5
p.m., with tickets costing $50 in advance and $75 at the door; hanging
out on the Lady Atlantic will cost you $150. To get those tickets, go here.
And Go Hardhats! Er... Cheeseheads! Er... whoever.
