The economy is finally growing (a little); however, there are still plenty of people looking for jobs.

Fortunately, the restaurant industry in South Florida and the rest of the country is poised for growth with an expected 2.9 percent sales increase this year.

Although an increase in jobs in any market tends to be a good thing, most hourly workers in the food and beverage industry -- or most industries, for that matter -- aren't likely to receive benefits like health-insurance, none-the-less retirement.

Del Frisco's Restaurant Group is the exception to the rule with comprehensive employee benefits packages. Slated to open late September, Del Frisco's Grille Palm Beach is hosting a job fair starting tomorrow.

Thursday through Saturday, the restaurant is seeking out 125 full-time and part-time staff members for front and back of house positions ranging from bartenders, servers, and bussers to cooks and dishwashers.

"Del Frisco's Grille has always been known for its hospitality. Our customers will begin to think of us as their home away from home. We hire front and back of the house to work as a team and great attitudes make for great teams," said Shang Skipper, regional manager.

The Texas-based chain, which also owns Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House and Sullivan's Steakhouse, is offers benefit packages that are a rarity in the restaurant industry, complete with 401k retirement savings plans with matching contributions for salaried and hourly employees, medical coverage, dental and vision plans, domestic partner insurance, and management growth opportunities.

The Del Frisco's Grille concept pairs a lively classic bar scene with craft cocktails and modern American bistro fare.

The Palm Beach outpost is going to be located in the island's Royal Poinciana Plaza.

The job fair is taking place at the company's local hiring office at 340 Royal Poinciana Way, Suite 307, in Palm Beach from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
